2019 is the year for me to over come my blogging anxiety. That’s right, me, a pretty social person has blogging anxiety. Maybe because I’m not the best at spelling and grammar, ok I’m horrible at it!! And, quite honestly I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. However, having launched my website four years ago, and now having an actual studio location for my business, I feel the need to document my journey. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a 36-year-old, mother of four, lover of all things outdoors (that’s why Colorado is my home with my adoring husband and biggest supporter), designer and seamstress by hard work, trial & error. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a love for design and sewing. I especially love fabric and would drape my sisters in curtains and other types of drapes at a very young age. I also sketched all the time, making paper dolls of all my designs. I was fortunate to have a grandmother who taught me the basics of sewing along with a couple other women my mother knew. Life, however, got unexpectedly chaotic my pre-teen and teen years as my mother fell ill and we lived in a household with three families trying to survive and cope with unexpected circumstances. In time I once again was able to start exploring the art that I love. With my husband’s encouragement, I took on small alteration jobs that grow into harder more precise projects. I took classes, read and read and read and still read. I then launched my website and business in 2015, naming it after my girls in hopes that I would inspire them and our boys to dream big! At this time I was working out of our home, but with all the girls needing work done, and with an especially small workspace, I decided to open up a studio on Main St. in Rye Colorado. This is my second year at that location. There have been ups and there have been downs. I’m especially new to business, and I have a lot of learning and growing ahead.
2019 is my year! My year to make Averil Marie everything I’ve dreamed it to be, its the year to reach out, reach up, and bloom. Blogging is just a small part of that bud starting to grow.
